had some huge turbulence flying from Cape Town to Durban

I think it was the goat vindaloo

The plane was dropping what felt like 10's of feet at a time

My favourite flight experience has to be when I dressed up as a woman, and put on an Australian accent...

Garuda have upped their game since 2008 use them regualrly when flying local in Indonesia 2 hour flight TV and food free train ticket from city to airport nice new planes.

Saying that in 2012 i used one of their sister plane companies Citylink i think they use the old Garuda planes tickets are cheap i flew from Medan to Jakarta the whole flight was severe turbelence and the plane felt like the wings were going to fall off at any moment loads of creaking and strange noises, probably worse flight ive been on.

I used to fly like the average bloke, occasional holiday trip and so on, but circumstances saw a break from it in the 90's, and then when I flew in 99 I was a bag of nerves. To the point where I think I pissed off the couple I was sitting next to. Since then I've only flown once, and that was for work coming back from Germany, having driven out there.

I'm aware od the need to stop being such a tart, as I've got a young family who will one day want to fly somewhere nice for their holidays and I'd be just as worried with them up there with me down on the ground. I'm just no good with heights, couldn't watch that program about amateur dare devils, fucking about on cranes on top of buildings.

Fly about twice a week for work and most of the time its completely uneventful.

Was on a flight where a guy had a suspected heart attack and the difference was amazing. We didn't seem to slow down much for the descent and a usual two hour flight took under an hour and half as the pilot must have decided Heathrow was still the best option and just managed to put his foot down.

Had a rough ride back from Manchester last year during the high winds - cabin service made it to row 3 and gave up as they were swaying all over the place.

Last week flew in to Heathrow from Stockholm and the flight was far longer than usual. Lots of circling and pilot saying the air traffic was heavy. On the ground it took ages to get on stand, again long stories from the pilot. As we got off there were two armed police asking to check passports - clearly someone was on a list somewhere and they had to get organised to pick them up on the way off.

FC maybe but highly unlikely they seem to think the person actually put it on as you have to pull them down to activate them don't you?

To be fair if they did they were mad I'd rather not know the plane was going down and I was going to die.

Maybe the force was so great when it crashed, that the oxygen mask just happened to end up on the passengers face?

Not really had any bad flights but had a completely awful landing at East Midlands once.
The tried to land once but the crosswinds were so strong the plane was coming down at 45 degrees to the runway so they aborted.
Second time same thing happened but the pilot manahged to get it around everyone and I mean everyone on the plane shit themselves.
Some people were screaming crying the works!

I imagine if you crash in one of the passenger jets it's one of the best ways to die, so doesn't bother me at all. Disintegrate instantly in a ball of flame with the amount of gas on board.

That's not totally true the flight that went down over the Ukraine they have said at least one passenger had managed to put their oxygen mask on.

Twice I had the plane pratically on the landing strip and then suddenly the plane pulled back up and abort. Both at Heathrow T4.

Good and Bad in one flight.

Flying back from Bali years ago I met an Australian girl on a 12 hour layover in Jakarta.

It was a flight with Garuda who are cheap but fucking awful.

To cut a long story short she gave me one off the wrist in my seat, with me covered by her mates (who was asleep next to us) denim jacket (some DNA was distributed)
That was the Good.

The Bad was a piece of the planes wing falling off on landing at Heathrow (which we didt know about until the next day when it was in the papers).

Still, I got a nice wank out of it, so every cloud..

You fucking liar. Nothing like that happens on a flight.
Parts just don't fall off planes.

I hadn't been drinking but I'd had an exhausting few days leading up to it.
I'd been in a detention center for 10 days previous, the cunts deported me even though Id claimed political asylum :)

Re: Worst Airplane Stories - bad flights etc
My chosen death is by plane crash, so perhaps it's best not to fly with me - one day I'll be willing it down.

I've flown quite a bit but I've never really had a "bad" flight. Had an aborted landing at Kalibo in Philippines this Summer - it wouldn't really have bothered me, but I've never heard the noise that the engines made as they tried to drag the plane back into the sky. It got me rather worried, pointing what felt nearly vertical with this horrendous noise, but as Mrs OTB is a worried flier anyway I had to appear calm while she tried to break my hand.

Then I saw a stewardess doing her hair in a mirror so I fell asleep.

A plane dropped on my head once, yeah I know it explains a lot.

Got off the plane at the end of the flight and I said to the company doctor who'd been on the same plane, 'Doctor, I think I've hurt my neck ' he replied, 'Same here, look I've hurt my foot' and then he fucked off on holiday, the slack frog cunt!

Re: Worst Airplane Stories - bad flights etc
Have just read your whole post and I'm pretty sure I'd have reacted the same way.

Worst story I have is my ex fell asleep with her head on my lap - she used to take valium as she was scared of flying as well. When we landed she woke up, lifted her head and it was only then that I realised she'd been dribbling on my lap.

Looked like I'd pissed myself - or worse.
